JC MONTE CARLO: No, not really. Dangerous and very seedy area. Vacations on skid row, seriously? Homeless and drug addicts everywhere. Did you ever see the Amadeus movie? The scene in the mental asylum? That’s exactly this area. The room: No glasses ( ‘we don’t give them out anymore because people steal them’) ,no shampoo🤡, no hot water, no wifi ,(working), no nada. Never again. By the way, if you do not know Rio de Janeiro and you are here only for tourism, don’t take this hotel as the center of Rio is far, far away from all the tourist attractions. The beaches are at least 12 km from here. If you’re here for business keep in mind that the Wi-Fi is not working at all and you need your own Wi-Fi connection. Very noisy guests without any consideration for others. You can take the metro from Cinelândia to the beaches , but the problem is you have to walk around 40-50 minutes through the slums. Highly dangerous at night. There’s actually nothing positive about this hotel except for the price but as we say you’ll get what you pay for.

Yachtclub Marbella: Terrible but cheap. Wifi hardly working, breakfast area dirty, so is Lapa. No shampoo, no glasses ,no hot water in the rooms. It’s cheap but that’s about it. Full of illustrious backpackers and other sophisticated tourists. I was too cheap for a real hotel, I just needed it for 1 night. Does the job, but next time I take a nice place. Btw Lapa is a mega dangerous area at night, full of drugs and homeless people. Skidrow in LA is nothing compared to this.

Fabi Meza: This hotel was on the cheaper side compared to other places such as Copacabana or Ipanema as it isn’t on the beach and rather in the middle of the city. The location is great if you are looking to use public transportation as the bus stop is outside of the hotel and you can take a bus to these beaches for $4.40 reis. As for safety I feel it was great. We would walk around late at night and as long as you aren’t showing valuables or running around with your phone out every few seconds nobody would bother you. There are lots of restaurants and bars open at night with tables on the sidewalks so there are a lot of people but we never felt unsafe. As for the rooms they are very comfortable and modern. They have air conditioning and a mini fridge, bidet, hot water and a desk. The breakfast is included and the food was delicious. Breakfast usually consists of different types of bread, cheese, ham, eggs, sausages, cereals, granola, fruit, juice and coffee. The staff were amazing and super helpful. They have 24 hour reception so they can help whenever you need and we had a great time.

Buck HUANG: Such an affordable place though the traffic is kinda inconvenient. No shampoo and body wash, kinda old but all the inconveniences are acceptable considering about the price. Plus met my crush near the hotel😅😭

Kenji K: Stayed here last night. The staff are friendly and tries their best to communicate in English. Though they are not flexible with checking times. Has a mob of 10+ people waiting in the small lobby for 2+ hours with only 3 seats & no A/C. If you overlook this, its a cute little hotel with some hostel vibes.
