Raul Gabrich: Good Hotel. Simple, but clean rooms. Does not have Wifi access in the rooms however, which is bad. The breakfast is included, and it is excellent. It is really cheap compared to other hotels in Rio de Janeiro.

Maud Moldal: Good value for the price. Got a double room with private bathroom and breakfast included for about 20 usd per night. However, the staff was very unpolite, the room only got cleaned 1 of 2 days. The breakfast was very standard but good, but we had to wait a long time for almost everyting to be refilled on sunday when we ate around 9-10.

Hugo Costa: Location is easily found directly from Rio Branco street. Room is ugly and smelly, beds are old and feels like it will break if you move, shower is rusty and there was no cold water on my shower. They have me the key to the next room which didn't had hot water. Breakfast was regular, only few options and they only had plastic disposable cups to drink from, the forks are all bent and dented. Not recommended at all. At least if the price were cheap, but it is a little expensive for the quality.

T Rev: I stayed at the Center Hotel for 9 days during the World Cup and enjoyed my stay. The staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating even though I spoke VERY little Portuguese. They helped watch my bags before check-in, find taxi's when needed and even ordered pizza delivery after restaurant hours. The room was adequately furnished..no frills...with all the essentials and for me, it was a good base to have in a great location for sight-seeing. Easy walk to the Metro and market. Close to the Cultural Center and other nearby sights..There are some cool, art-deco buildings surrounding the hotel as it's located in the business district. Plus, there are banks close by to change money...newspaper stands are open during the week and a few restaurants. It's quiet on the weekends, but I felt safe and encountered no problems. Breakfast was great every day..fresh fruits, eggs, cheeses, pastries, coffee...very good service. The restaurant was a little expensive for dinner. The only issue I had to deal with, was noise from the traffic outside. Since it's an older hotel, the windows can open to the street and since my room faced Avenida Rio Branco I could hear the traffic at night. Otherwise, it's good option to the more expensive hotels in Centro.
